President Gordon Cherniak of MBPOA worked closely with Lieutenant Andy Harrod of Manhattan Beach Police and Universal Specialty Vehicles, Inc. to create a 36” Emergency Mobile Command Unit.

USV created the vehicle to have two slide-outs, each with two workstations and Wilsonart work tables. One slide-out has an additional Wilsonart conference table. Universal equipped the vehicle with a 26” flat screen HDTV in the overhead dash and a 22” flat screen HDTV in the dispatch room, as well as, a 32” HDTV viewable from the exterior and a smart board. They also outfitted the unit with a restroom with exterior and interior access, a microwave, a coffeemaker, and a refrigerator.

In addition, USV installed Winegard Roadstar RS 2000 Omni-directional antenna, Tracvision in-motion satellite TV antenna system, and an A&E weather pro power electric awning. All TV/VCR’s are connected to the roof antenna and all units are networked.

One of the vehicles first outings was an annual beach volleyball tournament in Manhattan Beach which attracts about 60,000 people and 200 volleyball teams.

USV is proud that Manhattan Beach trusted them to build their custom mobile command unit and looks forward to a long and lasting relationship.
